Bring The Pain In The Roguelite Adventure, Sparklight, Out Next Year For PC/Consoles

Indie developers, Red Blue Games, are branching away from the mobile games market and introducing their debut PC/console release – the roguelite brawler, Sparklite.

Check out the retro-inspired adventure game in the new gameplay trailer below:

Saving The World Of Sparklite

Here’s everything we know about the recently announced adventure title:

  • You play as the intelligent engineer, Ada, and embark on an adventure thrown into a dangerous world filled with vile gremlins out for your head.
  • Sparklite plays like an old-school, Zelda-inspired adventure game with a dash of roguelite elements, such as procedurally generated content.
  • These random encounters are caused by land shaking earthquakes that sporadically alter the landscape of each level in the middle of your adventure.
  • Quests, minigames and a slew of new challenges present itself with every violent earthquake, making for a surprising adventure with new obstacles around every corner.
  • Ada uses her uncanny engineering skills to invent new guns and gadgets to use at her disposal. Aside from wiping out the many enemies, players will also use her skills and inventions to solve puzzles which challenge the player throughout the adventure.

With only the announcement, a few small details and a short, slick trailer, we can expect to hear more about Sparklite within the next year.

Sparklite is set to release in the Fall of 2019 for the PC, Xbox One, PS4 and the Switch.

‘Souls’ Inspired Action Game, Sinner: Sacrifice For Redemption, Slashes Its Way Onto Consoles/PC Later This Year

Brutally fend yourself off against the embodiments of the seven deadly sins in Dark Star Games’ upcoming action game, Sinner: Sacrifice for Redemption.

What looks like a byproduct straight out of the popular ‘Souls’ series, Sinner sees players as a gritty soldier, Adam, weighing heavily on his dark and mysterious past.

With the announcement of Sinner heading over to Discord, consoles and later on Steam, comes a barbaric launch trailer showing off various bosses. Check it out below:

A Road To Redemption

Here are some of the key features on the future release of Sinner: Sacrifice for Redemption:

  • Take on the role of Adam and make a journey to become exonerated for his treacherous past littered with sins and loathsome crimes.
  • Driven along by a stirring soundtrack, players will dive head first into boss battles that manifest from the atrocious seven deadly sins, revealing Adam’s connections with each incarnation.
  • To mix up the combat system, players must permanently debuff their character before each boss battle by sacrificing a chosen body part. Sinner is meant to drive players insane with the increasingly difficult battles that never seem to let up.
  • For those who will brave their way through to the end, players will discover new pieces of equipment in New Game+ mode — adding a pinch of replayability.

Headed to the Switch, PS4 and Xbox One on October 18th, 2018 and Steam shortly after. You can follow the game by joining Another Indie’s Discord group here.

Ace Attorney Trilogy Coming To Switch

Ace Attorney Trilogy Coming To Switch, PS4, PC, Xbox One

Capcom has announced, via their TGS stream, that the original Ace Attorney trilogy is coming to Switch, PS4, PC (Steam) and Xbox One.

A great time to jump in if you haven’t already, the trilogy will feature upgraded HD graphics and is set for release early 2019:

In other Ace Attorney news, Capcom announced the Ace Attorney Concert 2019 and showed off a new trailer for the second season of the anime which is looking vastly improved from the enjoyable first season based on the third game in the series. Godot, of course, makes his entrance in a suitable style. The broadcast begins October 6th (via CloverWorks), here’s the teaser:

Although, disappointingly, there was no Ace Attorney 7 to show. Capcom seems to be saving that title for another day…

Fernz Gate Switch

Old-School Style RPG, Fernz Gate, Now Available For The Switch

The Switch library of old-school turn-based RPGs just got a little heavier with the recent release of Fernz Gate from developers Exe-Create.

Dive into a fantasy world as Alex, an ordinary high-school student dumped into an unordinary situation in the once-peaceful world of Fernland.

Check out the Switch reveal trailer for Fernz Gate below:

Fernz Gate Switch – The Vibrant World Of Fernland

Here are a few key notes about the recently released vintage-style RPG game, Fernz Gate:

  • Players will take on the role of Alex as he drifts away into an unknown world filled with conflict and dangerous foes. After teaming up with Lita – a stranger from a peaceful world similar to Alex’s – they embark on a journey like no other to discover the truths about Fernland.
  • The classic turn-based combat system is simple enough for any RPG newcomer to tackle vigorous enemy battles with confidence and ease.
  • Like most RPG games of this nature, players will discover and recruit new friends and allies to help grow in strength and numbers.
  • Players can use party members not participating in battle scenarios to discover new secrets, as well as upgrade weapons and achieve new skills to open up combat.

Recently only available on mobile platforms, Fernz Gate is now accessible on the Nintendo Switch to help satiate the urge to play on home televisions and, of course, the handheld mode on the Switch.

You can find Fernz Gate at the eShop for Switch purchases, as well as iTunes, Google Play and coming soon to Steam.

Streets Of Rage 4

Streets Of Rage 4 Is A Reality, Axel And Blaze Return

The award for the most unexpected announcement of the month has to go to what we’re now calling Streets of Rage 4. A game that most – at this late point – would only expect as an April Fool’s joke is really happening.

Announced earlier today, Streets of Rage 4, (a sequel 24 years after the last title), is being developed by Lizardcube and Guard Crush Games and promises hand-drawn visuals, new mechanics, and a plot that hopefully features Mr. X once again controlling the city.

It’s unlikely the game will see the return of Yuzo Koshiro, the man behind the truly awesome soundtracks of the first three SEGA masterpieces – but we live in hope.

Broken Sword 5 Is Hitting The Switch

Paris in the fall, the last months of the year and the end of… Oh sorry, didn’t know you were listening to me then.

Broken Sword is a masterpiece of a franchise with ‘Shadows of the Templars’ sitting as my second favourite game of all time and if I ever have a son, I would name him after George Stobbart.

So, when they originally announced Broken Sword 5 a few years back I was over the moon and when I played it, it was glorious. Enough fan service to make me squeal and enough originality to keep me interested. Originally released as a two-parter on mobile devices and PC, later seeing console ports, we now see it come to Nintendo Switch.

This time George and Nico get mixed up in a shooting at a gallery and in a typical Broken Sword fashion, this ends with a historical conspiracy leaving George and Nico to save the world whilst everyone else is just enjoying tea or Countdown.

You will visit various locations with puzzles just for you to wrap your head around – plus witty dialogue that makes Nathan Drake look like a crappy sitcom. On the way, you’ll meet so familiar faces as well as some new ones, one of which is the best character in the Broken Sword series.

The Switch port will be released on September 21st with a new interface-like touch screen, interviews and behind the scenes clips. This is a must-have for any fan of the franchise or adventure game fans. Let’s hope we see more from Revolution in the future.

Simon - Smash Bros

Simon Belmont And King K. Rool Join Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

As the Smash Bros. series inevitably ages, with Nintendo’s core cast very much present and accounted for, it’s up to obscure and third-party characters to take on the duty of being all-important newcomers. And what a new pair we have.

Simon Belmont, King K. Rool – Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

The Nintendo Direct today revealed famous ‘vampire killer’ Simon Belmont from the legendary Castlevania series and Donkey Kong’s arch-villain King K. Rool.

Simon Belmont - Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Simon’s inclusion seems to be a long time coming, especially as Castlevania was synonymous with Nintendo platforms for years. King K. Rool, on the other hand, is fan service through and through – he’s one of the most highly requested characters in Smash Bros. history.

Masahiro Sakurai, let’s be honest, Nintendo’s personal curator, stated that his music team adores Castlevania’s tunes, so, naturally, they decided to add 34 tracks to Simon’s stage – Dracula’s Castle – alone. Simon obviously fights with his famous holy whip and can use moves such as ‘holy water’, ‘uppercut’ and ‘axe’.

The Vampire Killer strikes again

Moving on, King K. Rool was announced as a surprise, right at the end of the Direct, and can be seen using famous moves like his blunderbuss and crown toss, which recalls memories of playing Donkey Kong Country and controllers being smashed on the floor in anger while doing so.

Other rather obscure characters, in the form of Echo Fighters (characters with different models, same moves) announced include:

Ritcher Smash Bros. Ultimate
Richter returns
  • Richter Belmont – Rondo of Blood
  • Chrom – Fire Emblem: Awakening
  • Dark Samus – Metroid Prime series

Assist Trophy characters shown include:

  • Alucard – Castlevania, Symphony of the Night design

The World Ends With You Final Remix Switch

The World Ends With You: Final Remix Lands On Switch This October

The Worlds Ends With You finally has a release date for Switch: October 12th.

The World Ends With You – Final Remix

Released way back in 2007 on Nintendo DS, the beloved game featured touch controls, a real-time combat system and microphone screaming – if you desired.

Here’s the new trailer – that announced the release date – from Square Enix:

The Worlds Ends With You made it to iOS and Android devices in 2012 and 2014 respectively, but the Switch’s Final Remix version apparently includes a ‘sizeable new scenario that gets right to the heart of the story.’

Whether that lure is great enough for fans to double dip remains to be seen.
