Well it seems that Konami does care after all: a new update has been released today for Super Bomberman R on the Nintendo Switch that adds lots of additional content, and fixes quite a few bugs too.
Update version 1.3 adds and changes the following for early Nintendo Switch adopters:
Four new VS stages have been added to the shop (White Cross, Lagoon, Max Speed, Power Zone, seen below)
Two new series of accessories have been added to the shop (Crowns and Bombs)
The frame rate of the entire game has been improved. Konami also made slight adjustments and has improved the controls as well
Less lags are likelier to happen when every participant in the Online Battle mode has a good network connection. (If you want to find opponents with a good connection, set Other > Basic Settings > Network Settings to the very left)
They have made it possible to press L/R to change the inclination of the map in the Story Mode. Other > Basing Settings will also allow you to fix the camera position as well
You can now choose the strength of the COM on the Multiplayer Battle Mode
The strength of the Five Dastardly Bombers on the Story Mode have been adjusted (phew)
The difficulties of Beginner and Normal have been reduced, making it easier to beat them
They have adjusted the heights and slopes on some maps to improve the visibility
If you continue a certain number of times in the Story Mode, you will be able to continue without paying anymore gems
Changed the BP (Battle Point) increase/decrease rate for the League Battle
Fixed other various small bugs
That’s not all though, as Konami has promised to continue supporting the game with free DLC down the line. Next up are some new characters based off famous Konami franchises, including:
Vic Viper Bomber (from Gradius)
Belmont Bomber (from Castlevania)
Pyramid Head Bomber (from Silent Hill)
We assume these awesome characters will be coming in a few months time.
It’s great to see the game actually get supported after launch. For early adopters, does this tempt you to jump back in?
Dark Souls III: The Fire Fades Edition is out now for the PS4, Xbox One and PC. The game serves as the complete and ultimate Dark Souls 3 experience, with both downloadable expansions: Ashes of Ariandel and The Ringed City included.
Here’s what Bandai Namco had to say on the release:
‘Reborn as ash, players must make their way across the kingdom of Lothric in search of the risen Lords who have abandoned their duties to keep the age of fire continuing as the once powerful fire begins to fade. Players will traverse a multitude of lands including murky swamps, dank dungeons, opulent castles, and rickety shantytowns, a painted land, and the eventual end of the world, across their journey.
A large cast of non-playable characters will be on hand to assist players with new spells, items and weapons to help overcome some of the most challenging bosses and fearsome foes in the DARK SOULS series.’
Bethesda has released a new video for Prey that explores the hazardous space station called Talos 1.
Taken over by ‘aliens’, Talos 1 is the key setting for the first-person horror game that launches May 5th on PS4, Xbox One and PC. In space no one can hear you… Yeah, you know the rest.
Evil corporations in space though? Sounds familiar. Check out the video below.
Sally here. I tried out the Nintendo Switch version of World of Goo. The Joy-Cons work surprisingly well as Wii remote substitutes. It’s a great time to play the game if you haven’t already years ago…
A season pass disc for the game will be available from shops starting May 2nd. The disc will include ‘Episode One: Tangled Up in Blue’, and will grant access to download the subsequent four episodes via online updates as they are released in the coming months of 2017.
You can find the launch trailer for the game below. Will you be buying episode 1 right away, or will you wait it out?
Ubisoft has released a Watch Dogs 2 trailer showcasing what’s new in the free April update, including the added Showdown mode, online races and extra gear.
In addition to this, the ‘No Compromise’ DLC is now available for the PS4. In No Compromise “players can discover how a new DedSec operation goes wrong when the Russian Mafia gets involved”. Sounds interesting, no?
No Compromise will be available on Xbox One and PC next month, on May 18th. Check it out in the trailer below.
Here’s what appears to be the final trailer for Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap. The 2D platformer will hit the digital stores for PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch tomorrow. It’s also scheduled to be released on PC in June.
Developed by Lizardcube and published by DotEmu, the game boasts multiple characters, HD or 8-bit style graphics, topical humour and a glorious soundtrack.
Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap is based on the 1989 game, Wonder Boy III: The Dragon’s Trap, released for Sega’s Master System back in the day. Where does the time go?
Your target is the dreaded dragon’s room – good luck!
Analytics firm NPD Group revealed the new figures that saw The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild sell 1.3m copies – 925k of those were for the Switch, 460k for the Wii U.
Yes that’s right, more copies of the game were sold than actual Switch consoles. Why? Basically people really love Zelda and decided to buy two copies of the game…
It’s worth remembering that the Wii U also sold very well at launch with 890k units, but that was after 41 days on the market – the Switch has beaten that in 28 days.
Neon yellow Joy-Cons are launching with Arms on June 16th. It still doesn’t improve that D-pad though
Nintendo’s share price at the time of writing is now 2.06% up – it seems even the fickle shareholders are liking what they see. The Super Mario maker will be providing its own set of figures at the end of the month, but for now, this is impressive stuff.
The company will need to keep the momentum going, however, as we all know that console sales can dip dramatically after an initial rush. See the poor Wii U.
Still, there’s going to be some champagne bottles being popped at Nintendo HQ right about now.
Sally here. So I recently played a little bit of Mr. Shifty on the Nintendo Switch. I found it to be very satisfying and fun to play!
The HD rumble was an extra quirk and made me feel even more of a badass when combined with the awesome music. I will happily get back to playing the next few levels later on.
“The planning for what happens after Scorpio in the console space is already underway. You have to think about it that way. Like, what is the next thing?
“We – I – remain committed to the console space. We think it’s critically important.”
It comes as no surprise to learn that the future of Xbox itself is in progress – console manufacturers normally have their next project lined up as soon as a year after the launch of their last one.
The real question is: should you go out and buy the Scorpio at the end of the year, or wait for the ‘true’, more powerful Xbox a few years later?
Capcom has released a new ‘Making of’ video for the critically acclaimed Resident Evil 7. The video, entitled ‘Beginning Hours’, is the first part in a new documentary-style series that will explore the development behind the grisly survival horror game.
Filmed in Capcom’s Osaka headquarters, part one of the video predominantly features Jun Takeuchi, executive producer of the game, talking about the core focus of the Resident Evil series: scaring people.
Takeuchi was determined right from the start of the project to make sure Resident Evil 7 would return to its roots in that regard.
Capcom Releases Resident Evil 7 Documentary
In the video, he comments on how Capcom really had to nail that isolated sense of dread the original games created so well. The later entries in the series, namely Resident 5 and 6, largely abandoned this in favour of global bioterror events, a focus on action and co-op play. Although he believes those adventures are still fondly remembered by gamers.
After all, who doesn’t grin when thinking about Chris Redfield smashing his bare fists into a boulder twice the size of him?
The video details some interesting ideas that didn’t make the final cut of the game as well. The Baker family at one point had a vicious pet dog named Diane who would appear at the infamous dinner scene to harass the player; this would have been quite similar to the zombie dogs from the earlier games.
Another idea would have been zombies that reacted to breathing, forcing the player to hold their breath in-game every time they needed to get past the creatures.
Capcom, however, worried that people in real life would hold their breath, and after 15 hours or so, would end up self-inducing a state of hypoxia. It’s probably for the best that idea was removed then.
The video features more we haven’t mentioned too, so be sure to check it out:
