E3 2017: Metroid: Samus Returns announced for the 3DS

Yes, that’s right. Nintendo is doubling up on Metroid this year at E3. First, with the announcement of Metroid Prime 4, and now ‘Metroid: Samus Returns’ for the 3DS. The game is being developed Mercury Stream, who just last year denied the rumor that they were working on a Metroid game.

This iteration of the long time fan favorite series is a reworked version of the classic “Metroid 2: Return of Samus.” No, it’s not just a simple port, it’s a re-imagining of the classic game. The new features will include upgraded visuals, range of motion and bonus abilities.

Metroid: Samus Returns will launch on September 15th for the 3DS family of consoles. A special edition was also announced that comes with the game and a CD soundtrack.

What do you guys think of this 2D Metroid? Are you going to be picking it up? Or are you just going to wait for Metroid Prime 4?
