Latest UK game charts – Call of Duty WWII at one, FIFA 18 second

The latest UK game charts are here and Call of Duty WWII is number one.

Latest UK Game Charts

The rest of the UK charts see FIFA 18 take second place, again, with Star Wars Battlefront 2 in third, again, Xbox One newcomer PUBG comes in fourth and Assassin’s Creed Origins stays in fifth.

Here’s the full Top 20 list:

In conclusion, a really exciting and unpredictable week in the charts. Joking aside, it doesn’t come as much of a surprise considering the time of the year. A time where game sales have dramatically slowed down. That being said, we did get to see PUBG make a solid entry on the list.

Latest Nintendo Switch Sales

The latest Nintendo Switch sales: 10 million worldwide

Switch sales have hit an impressive 10 million worldwide in just nine months.

Latest Nintendo Switch Sales – Switching It Up

The Nintendo Switch has almost beaten the Wii U’s total lifetime sales (13.56m). Let that sink in for a moment. That’s nine months vs five years on sale. In fact, the total number is very similar to the PS4’s first nine months on sale, and we know how well that’s doing.

There’s a serious chance then, that the Switch will outsell the Wii U in a single year – such is the pace of the ongoing sales.

Nintendo, as you can imagine, is pleased with the news and posted this charming tweet:

Next year the Switch will bring with it a new Yoshi game, a new Kirby game, a new Pokémon game, Bayonetta 3 (probably), Metroid Prime 4 (probably), we imagine more impressive indie titles, and hopefully, a few surprises to keep the momentum going. A new Star Fox game we can be proud of would be nice too – sorry Miyamoto!

Yoku’s Island Express

Yoku’s Island Express gets a Christmas trailer

Team17 and indie developer Villa Gorilla have released a new trailer for their upcoming pinball-platform game Yoku’s Island Express. Oh, and there’s no Yoshi in sight in case you were wondering.

The festive reel showcases some of the snowy surroundings Yoku will uncover as he flips and bumps across his aerial ascent to the highest reaches of Mokumana island. Check it out in the trailer below:

Our ‘favourite’ dung beetle will meet a whole host of colourful new islanders including Tungaska, Chirp the foreman and Tilo the mountaineer.

Yoku’s Island Express is coming to Xbox One, PS4, Switch and PC in 2018.

Latest UK game charts – Call of Duty WWII at one, Odyssey moves up

The latest UK charts are here and Call of Duty WWII hasn’t budged – again. It seems it will be this way up until Christmas…

Latest UK Game Charts

The rest of the UK charts see FIFA 18 take second place, with Star Wars Battlefront 2 now in third, Super Mario Odyssey moves up to fourth and Assassin’s Creed Origins stays in fifth.

Here’s the full Top 20 list:

Sales as a whole went down even further this week and dropped an impressive 41 percent. Things are definitely slowing down then.

It’s also worth noting that Xenoblade Chronicles 2 has left the list already – a little disappointing for the RPG epic. Although Odyssey saw a resurgence and went up to fourth.

Meanwhile The Sims 4 shot up 9 places. The demand is there, despite it being three years since its initial release on PC.

Breath of the Wild Champion’s Ballad expansion is out now

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild expansion Champion’s Ballad is out now. Surprise.

The Game Awards 2017 revealed the big news showing Link on a new bike called the Master Cycle Zero. We assume it helps you to get around a bit faster than your horse:

The Champion’s Ballad will see Link interact with the heroes before the events of the main game – no spoilers here. There are also new outfits and shrines as part of the DLC.

Square Enix announces new Tomb Raider game

Tomb Raider has been one of the most long-standing game franchises in the industry’s history, debuting in 1996 and having countless sequels since across many platforms, with its latest being Rise of the Tomb Raider in 2015. It follows Lara Croft, a British archaeologist, on her journey to discover treasures from time immemorial while solving puzzles and battling enemies.

Good news: fans’ thirst for a sequel will finally be quenched in 2018 as Square Enix has stated: “our journey together will begin with a major event in 2018”.

Via an official message to the fans on Twitter, Square Enix said:

“A new Tomb Raider game is coming. It won’t be very long between the official reveal and when you can play”.

This is good news, though it was made clear that the game would not feature at the Game Awards or at PlayStation Experience. Additionally, since they pointed toward a reveal coming soon, E3 2018 which would take place in June, seems to be a bit too far but it’s the most likely possibility. The game would also coincide with another major event in the Tomb Raider universe, as a reboot film called, you guessed it, Tomb Raider is expected to release in 2018.

Interestingly,  Shadow of the Tomb Raider was accidentally leaked when a person on a train was seen doing a marketing report for the game, which shows that the game could be released soon if progress continues at a steady rate. The game will be developed by Eidos Montreal instead of Crystal Dynamics, who regularly develops the game.

Fans of the series should expect more details in early 2018 and hope for a full release in Summer or Autumn.

Bayonetta 3 announced as a Switch exclusive

Bayonetta 3 has been announced at The Game Awards 2017 and is in development exclusively for the Nintendo Switch. There’s no release date at this stage but it’s great to see the series live on.

Here’s our first little tease:

A pack of the first two games in the series is also coming to the Switch next year on February 16th – something we thought might happen. We expect more info shortly.

Roguelike shooter, PolyGod, coming to Xbox One, Switch, and PC early next year

Indie developer Krafted Games has announced that their rogue-like, first-person shooter PolyGod will launch worldwide for Xbox One, PC via Steam and Switch in early 2018.

PolyGod features, according to the developer, a brutal difficulty curve, with a focus on tough boss fights and arena-shooter style online multiplayer and co-op. Here’s a trailer for you:

Maps are randomly generated and seeded in the game, meaning there should be a lot of replayability, while the “Blessings” based weapon customisation system helps to keep things fresh. Classic FPS controls are also in tow.

Capcom makes Mega Man 11 real + Legacy collections

Mega Man turns 30 on December 17th and instead of a normal celebration, we’re getting a gift…

Mega Man Returns – 2018

Capcom has announced Mega Man 11 for late 2018. The game will be the first new title to the series since Mega Man 10 in 2010. It comes along with a new “2.5D hand-drawn” art style instead of the traditional, retro 8-bit look.

Official launch trailer

Even more goodies are coming in the forms of Mega Man Legacy Collect 1 and 2 for the Switch and all eight of the Mega Man X series coming to all consoles. The Legacy collections came out for the PS4 and Xbox One earlier this year and it is not yet confirmed if the X Series will come as a compilation or as individual releases.

Mega Man is back.

Super Mario Galaxy and Twilight Princess 1080p versions to hit China

Super Mario Galaxy and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess are getting 1080p versions that will be released, surprisingly, on the Nvidia Shield in China.

Galaxy, Ya See

That’s not all, New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Punch-out!! will also arrive for the device, remastered with super clean 1080p visuals.

Super Mario Galaxy 1080p
Odyssey? Bah! Galaxy was still better.

Nintendo’s new relationship with Nvidia led to the project being given the full go ahead – no surprise as Nvidia provides the Tegra chip found within the Switch.

So yes, I know it’s not quite what we all wanted to hear, but we’re surely one step closer if Nintendo has finally decided to get HD versions of these games out.

Can we please have Galaxy on the Switch next Nintendo? It’s basically guaranteed success. Especially as Twilight Princess already got a remaster for the Wii U. It would even give Super Mario Odyssey a run for its money…

Latest UK game charts – Call of Duty WWII stays at number one

The latest UK charts are here and Call of Duty WWII hasn’t budged. Can it maintain this dominance all the way up to Christmas?

Latest UK Game Charts

The rest of the UK charts see FIFA 18 take second place, with Gran Turismo: Sport now in third, Star Wars Battlefront 2 in fourth and Assassin’s Creed Origins in fifth.

Here’s the full Top 20 list:

It’s worth mentioning that sales as a whole went down 24 percent this week. We’d imagine the run up to Christmas is a big factor in this as everything begins to, very gradually, slow down – stockings, are perhaps, already filled post Black Friday. Although such a drop with a few weeks to go is slightly surprising.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2, being the only new entry on the list, came in nineteenth. Not a great start, but still notable.
