Adi Shankar, the creator of Netflix’s upcoming Castlevania, has announced his next project: it’s an Assassin’s Creed anime.

  1. I wish Adi Shankar can finally buck the trend of video game adaptations not being well-received and for once we have that universally praised one. The Castlevania animation looks like it could be good but I still am hesitant because it is giving me a Vampire Hunter D type of vibe and I want Castlevania to stand on its own two feet. The Assassin’s Creed live action movie left a bad taste in people’s mouths, so I wonder how he will handle this one. I mean one can only hope this is the step in the right direction…but I don’t know how many times I have said that and it not happen.

    1. I’m quietly optimistic about Castlevania on Netflix, but I know what you mean. With so many bad video game adaptations around, doubt always creeps in. The Assassin’s Creed live action film had me ranting for hours… Did you watch the Ace Attorney movie? That was actually good!

      1. I did and I really think Takashi Miike has a good eye for costume design, and trying to be accurate to the source material. I liked the second half of the film a lot and I fully enjoyed many of the performances. Though I did have problems with the entirety of the film, it certainly was one of the more entertaining video game adaptations I have watched.

        I thankfully decided to just avoid the Assassin’s Creed movie until I will be forced to watch it at some point. I will be ranting soon enough about it myself…

      2. Agreed. It was interesting to hear from people who have never played the Ace Attorney games themselves too – they seemed to get a lot of enjoyment from the film. As for Assassin’s Creed… I look forward to your rant. Brace yourself.
